A short history

The Walt Disney World Marathon has been run every January since 1994. The course threads through all four Disney parks — Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and a finish split between Hollywood Studios and Epcot — connected by Disney's internal service roads and the I-4 overpasses that wind between resorts.

It's famous for two things: the 5 a.m. start (so that the bulk of the runners are past the parks before they open to the public), and the costumes — runners in full Disney-character cosplay are a third of every field, which makes the spectator photos iconic.

The course is flat by world-marathon standards (~190 ft / 58 m total elevation gain), but it has more rolling terrain than people expect. The bridges into Magic Kingdom around miles 6.5 and 10, and the late-race overpasses around mile 24, are real climbs that catch first-timers off guard.

About this GPX

This file is the complete official 2026 race course, sourced directly from the runDisney organizers' published GPX and validated against the start/finish and timing-mat checkpoints.

The GPX format is GPX 1.1, valid, and imports cleanly into Garmin Connect, Strava, Komoot, RideWithGPS, Zwift Run, Kinomap, and any FTMS-aware treadmill app that accepts GPX.

Treadmill simulation notes

When you run this GPX on a treadmill via SummitRoom or any FTMS-capable app, expect the elevation simulation to push your incline between 0% and ~3% — never punishing, but enough to feel the bridges.

A reasonable pacing strategy for the simulated course:
